Ruth Maurine Zuspann, age 93, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020 at her grandson’s home in rural Green Castle, MO. She was born October 14, 1927, in Knox City, Missouri, the daughter of Fred D. and Ida Strickler Oldfather. She united in marriage to Jacob Vernon Zuspann on August 24, 1950, in Quincy, Illinois.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon Zuspann of Edina, MO; one daughter, Sherrie Beth Zuspann of Kirksville, MO; one step-brother, Stanley (Maurine) Shearer of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) Zuspann of Green Castle, MO, and Curtis Zuspann of Kirksville, MO; four great grandchildren, Marshall, Brayden, Cameron and Mitchell Zuspann; one niece Connie (Billy) Early of Edina, MO; and one nephew Harry Lee (Diane) Oldfather of Edina, MO.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kevin Mark Zuspann; and one brother Harry Oldfather.
Ruth graduated from Novelty High School and attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, MO. She worked several years teaching Home Economics at Knox City, Lewistown, Brunswick and Ridgeway schools. Later she built a dog kennel and shipped puppies throughout the United States to loving homes. Ruth enjoyed reading, flowers, gardening and visiting with family and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 14, 2020 in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO, with Reverend Doug Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Knox City Cemetery.
