Oh, I’m Thankful Though
(To the tune of Old MacDonald Had a Farm)
I woke on Monday to alarm clock’s ding,
E-I-E-I Oh!
The annoying noise caused my ears to ring.
E-I-E-I Oh!
But, I’m thankful for my hearing, and I’m thankful for each sound,
I’m thankful for the noises that get me up and around.
I woke this morning to the alarm clock’s ding,
But, oh, I’m thankful though!
I woke up Tuesday to a house brrr cold,
E-I-E-I Oh!
Storm took the electricity, so I’m told.
E-I-E-I Oh!
But, I’m thankful for the heat and I’m thankful for the warm,
Thankful for linemen who work in a storm
I woke this morning to a house brrr cold
But, oh, I’m thankful though!
I woke up on Wednesday to my husband’s snore,
E-I-E-I Oh!
Sounded like a freight train comin’ through the door.
E-I-E-I Oh!
But, I’m thankful that I’m married and I’m thankful for a mate,
Thankful for the clever man who asked for that first date!
I woke up on Wednesday to my husband’s snore.
But, oh I’m thankful, though!
I woke up Thursday, meat still on my counter!
E-I-E-I Oh!
The ruined plans for dinner was definitely a downer.
E-I-E-I Oh!
But, I’m thankful there is carry-out, and thankful for a meal,
Thankful just to know, that this is no big deal,
I woke up on Thursday meat still on the counter.
But, oh, I’m thankful though!
I woke up on Friday, to an ambulance’s warning
E-I-E-I Oh!
Why do people get sick so early in the morning!
E-I-E–I Oh!
But I’m thankful for doctors, and I’m thankful for health
I’m thankful when I’m able to take care of myself,
I woke up on Friday to an ambulance’s warning
But, Oh, I’m thankful though!
I woke up on Saturday to the children’s shrieks,
E-I-E-I Oh!
Due to these little darlings, I haven’t slept all week,
E-I-E-I Oh!
But, I wouldn’t trade these kids for a million nights of rest
To have their love and giggles is to have the very best
I woke up Saturday to the children’s shrieks
But, oh, I’m thankful though!
I woke up on Sunday, laid quietly in bed,
E-I-E-I Oh!
Thought long and hard about these things that I’ve said,
E—I-E-I Oh!
Cause, there’s a lot of truth in these words you’ve read,
These truly are the blessing that get me out of bed.
I woke on Sunday, and this is what I said,
Oh I’m thankful Oh!
So thankful!
