Knox County 4-H/FFA Fair Board November Meeting Minutes

The Knox County 4-H/ FFA Fair Board meeting was called to order on November 10, 2020 by President Mike Ellison at 7:30 pm.
Motion made to approve agenda. Motion seconded and carried.
Motion to approve minutes from October 13th meeting. Motion seconded and carried.
Treasurer’s report shared with members. Motion made to approve Treasurer’s report. Motion seconded and carried.
Faculty report presented to members. Enrollment for year as of meeting, 19 members and 7 volunteers. Crystal is out of the Extension Office until 11/20 due to quarantine.
4-H Council reported they are possibly looking into grants.
Edina City Lake Property: City Council members are open to moving forward with the updated contract. Contract includes automatic renewal on the first day of the year for $1/yr. Motion made to move forward with the proposed contract. Motion seconded. Six members voted “aye,” no “nays” voiced. Contract will move to the Extension Council for their final vote in December. If they agree, then it will be brought to the Edina City Council for their final vote.
Unpaid Sponsorships—went through with Superintendents
Plaque Alternatives: Colony reps reported their members liked the plaques and buckets. Thought a smaller plaque with a gift card to Tractor Supply Company or Orscheln’s would be nice. Other discussion included banners for exhibitors. No further action.
2020-2021 Fair Dates: NEMO Fair announced their fair dates will be Jul 18-23. After discussion, motion made to have the 2021 Fair July 12-16. Motion seconded and carried.
Fair Book Cover contest will be due by 4:30 pm on January 12th. Crystal will announce to club pages 11/11/20.
Royalty Contest: Colony representatives reported that their club liked the idea of a bigger money incentive and their members were ok with allowing candidates to run again even if they have already won previously. County Liners representatives also indicated their members liked more money as an incentive to run for royalty.
Art Hall Superintendents are looking for a third to help with Fair this year. Please let Crystal, Helen H. or Amanda S. know if you are interested. Club representatives asked their clubs for volunteers.
Beef Weigh-In date discussed. Tentatively scheduled for February 6th, 2021 with February 13th, 2021 as snow date. No further action.
Swine Validation date discussed. Tentatively scheduled for May 3rd, 2021. No further action.
Sheep & Goat Weight-In date discussed. Tentatively scheduled for May 1st, 2021. No further action.
Motion made to have December Fair Board meeting run consecutively after 4-H Council meeting is concluded. Motion seconded and carried.
Announcements were given to members to report back to their respective clubs.
Next meeting will be December 8th immediately following 4-H Council meeting via Zoom unless otherwise noted.
