After over 20 years as the Knox County Nursing Home Administrator, Tim Schrage is stepping down to peruse something else. Schrage, a Knox County native and Knox County High School graduate, has operated the nursing home since June of 1999.
“I’m just ready for something else I think. I don’t know what that is,” said KCNH Administrator Tim Schrage.
Schrage said he is tired of trying to keep up with mounting and changing regulations, which have been increasingly cumbersome.
“The board is working on a replacement. They will likely have someone on an interim basis until they’ve had the opportunity to interview applicants,” said Schrage.
Throughout his tenure Schrage has overseen a complete remodel and expansion of the nursing home. He is leaving the facility full of residents with several on the waiting list.
He is leaving the nursing home greatly improved with hopes the next person to take the reins will finish getting the assisted living apartments operational.
“That’s one of my regrets – not being able to get the independent living going. There needs to be a push and a campaign to really get us over the hump on that. It’s a community need. It’s not just a nursing home district need,” said Schrage. “I’m hoping a new person will come in with a kick and really pour in especially with the independent living building.”
