Freeda Mae Brooks, age 89, of Thorndale, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, in Cameron, Texas.

Freeda was born March 14, 1931, in Knox City, Missouri, the daughter of Carl Parrish and Maurita Alda (Golbricht) Parrish.  She was united in marriage to Glen Albert Whiteaker, and to this union one daughter and three sons were born.  

Surviving are three sons, Arthur Lee (Dutch) Whiteaker of Carrollton, MO, Steven Michael Whiteaker and wife Betty of LaBelle, MO, Robert Carl (Bobby) Whiteaker, wife Becky of LaBelle, MO; two sisters, Tammy Parrish, and Margie Tarpein; and one brother, Lindsey Parrish. Also surviving are five grand-children; seven great-grand-children; four great-great grand-children; several nieces and nephews; and a long-time companion, Frank Garcia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, June McCabe and Donna Ledbetter; and a brother, Nelson Parrish.

Freeda received her education in Knox County schools.  She has resided in Texas for the past 46 years and was a self-employed house painter.  She enjoyed raising flowers.

Freeda was cremated. There will be no services. Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association.  Memorials may be left at or mailed to: Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, Mo. 63567.
