JAMES “JIM” BROWNING

James Roy Browning, age 79, of Edina, MO, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.  He was born January 26, 1942, in Crawford, CO, the son of Levi Clyde and Laura R. Hall Browning.

He was united in marriage to Sandra May Nicol on January 16, 1965, in Colony, MO and she preceded him in death on December 28, 2009.  Jim was also preceded by his parents, one brother Robert Browning and one sister Mary Ann Taylor.

Surviving are two sons, David (Renee) Browning of Nashville, TN and Michael (Janet) Browning of Farmington, MO, one brother Ed (Sharon) Browning of Maryville, MO, and one sister Louise (Patrick) Woodward of Overland Park, KS, six grandchildren Haley, Nieca, Levi, Elijah, Julian and Vivian, three great grandchildren, Kaimrin, Levidikis and Ashton and several nieces and nephews.

Jim received his education in Pleasant Valley rural school, graduated from Edina High School in 1960 and attended Northeast MO State University in Kirksville, MO.  Jim served his country in the Army National Guard.   Jim was engaged in farming all his life in Knox County, MO.  He loved all music especially Jazz, racing cars, and spending time with his family.  Jim was a member of the Farmington American Legion Post # 231 in Farmington, IA.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2021, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.   Reverend Laura Taylor will officiate the services.  Burial with full military honors will be held at a later date in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, MO.

Honorary bearers will be Marty Taylor, Ken Woodward, Carl Woodward, Steve Browning, Ronald Sayres, Joe Nicol and Greg Nicol.

Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. till 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, in Hudson-Rimer funeral Home in Edina, MO.
