Michael Scott Sanders, 62, of Plevna, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

Mike was born on September 11, 1958, in Mesa, Arizona, the son of Raymond and LaQuetta Gipson Leuthauser.

He graduated from the Pacifica High School of Garden Grove, California, in the Class of 1976.

On May 28, 1977, in Anaheim, California, Mike married Katherine Ditmore and to this union two girls were born.

Mike enjoyed the outdoors, and challenging life, as a “Jack of All Trades” he had worked many jobs and professions, including as a Police Officer, Private Detective, Carpenter, Farm Hand and most recently at Cardwell’s Saw Mill near Novelty, Missouri. He had a lot of challenges in life but seemed to meet each one with a big grin on his face.

He is survived by his fiancé, Sallie Applegate of Plevna, Missouri; two daughters, Shannon and Steve Van Dam of Trabuco Canyon, California and Shaylin Sanders of Irvine, California; a sister, Kelly Beuson of Arizona; a half-sister, Tamara Griggs, of St. Louis, Missouri; two half-brothers, Ray and Steve Leuthauser both of St. Louis, Missouri; two grandchildren, Chase and Ashlyn Van Dam; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Russell Sanders; and a sister, Kathy Pratt Sanders.

A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2021, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Friday after 4:00 p.m. until the services at 7:00 p.m.
