Highland senior Tommy Job won the boys 100 and 200 meter dash events at the April 8, 2021 Scotland County Relays varsity track and field meet. The competition was held on Scotland County’s newly constructed All Weather Track facility.
The Cougars took first place in nine total events. Knox County won six events in all.
Tommy Job captured the gold medal for the boys 100m relay in 11.44 seconds. Alex Long was second for Scotland County in 11.94 seconds. Highland had a one-two finish in the boys 200m dash finals.
Tommy Job won the top prize in 23.24 seconds. Devin Stutsman won the silver medal for Highland in 24.34 seconds. Austin Jansen was fifth for Knox County in 25.74 seconds. Keaton Strange finished sixth for the Eagles in 26.04 seconds.
Drew Mallett won the boys 400m dash for Highland in 53.24 seconds. Jacob Becker won a Knox County silver medal in 54.04 seconds. Conner Hayes took the bronze medal for Knox County in 55.54 seconds.
Knox County freshman Collin Hayes won the boys 800 m run gold medal in 2:29.30 seconds. Bryston Bowen clicked off the Knox County top two finish with the silver medal in a close 2:30 second finish.
Ethan Nelson won the boys 1600m run finals for Clark County in 5:23.70 seconds. Collin Hayes took a KCHS silver medal in 5:32.20 seconds. Junior Connor Melendez placed fifth for Knox County in 5:52.50 seconds. Matthew Sly placed sixth for Highland in just over six minutes.
Ethan Nelson won another boys distance event gold medal for Clark County, taking the 3200m gold medal in 11:52.20 seconds. Elliot Ogden won the silver medal for Knox County in 12:20.50 seconds. Sterling Lair won the bronze medal for Highland in 12:22 seconds. Matthew Sly was fifth for Highland in 13:26.40 seconds.
Colton Morrow swept the boys hurdles for Knox County. Morrow won the 110m hurdles in 16.14 seconds. Robert Goehl won a Highland silver medal in 17.64 seconds.
Coltin Morrow won the boys 300m hurdles in 42.74 seconds. Robert Goehl took the silver medal in 45.44 seconds.
Scotland County won the boys 4x10m relay in 48.14 seconds. Knox County was awarded the silver medals with an identical time. Highland won the boys 4x200m relay in 1:36.10 seconds Knox County was second overall in 1:38.20 seconds.
Knox County won the boys 4x400m relay in 3:43.70 seconds. Highland took the silver medals in 4:00.60 seconds. The Eagles also won the boys 4x800m relay in 10:09.40 seconds. Clark County won silver medals in 10:25.50 seconds.
Canton senior Aidan Spurgeon won the boys high jump at 5’11.75”. Cameron Bringer took a Highland silver medal at 5’9.75” Jacob Becker won the bronze medal on a tie breaker at 5’9 ¾”.
Brandon Holder was fourth in the boys high jump for Highland at 5’3.75”. Nelson Shinkle placed fifth on a tiebreaker at 5’3.75”.
Branson Miller won a field event gold medal for Knox County, taking the boys long jump at 18’1¼”. Jadin Fuller was second for Scotland County at 17’2”. Brandon Holder took a Highland bronze medal at 16’5¾”. Noah Jones placed fourth for Highland at 16’5 ¾”.
Hayden Long won the boys triple jump for Scotland County at 42’5”. Branson Miller won the triple jump silver medal at 38’3½”.Jonathan Shinn won a Clark County bronze medal at 36’5”. Sterling Lair was fourth for Highland at 31’10”.
Hayden Long won the boys discus and javelin gold medals for the Tigers. Long tossed the Javelin 138’3”. Hayden Long won the discus at 128’10”. Shon Stark won a Highland discus silver medal at 126’10½”. Justin Hawkins won fourth for Highland at 122’1¼”.
Cameron Bringer took the boys javelin silver medal at 127’9”. Hayden Dixon won the boys shot put for Schuyler County at 48’2¼”. Matthew Carlson claimed the boys shot put bronze medal at 40’7 ¾”. Shon Stark was fourth in the shot put at 37’5¼”. Will Harmon took sixth for Highland at 33’9”.
In Scotland County Relays girls results, North Shelby sophomore Whitney Shinn swept the girls sprint events. Shinn won the 100m dash in 13.64 seconds. Nariah Clay was second for Canton in 13.94 seconds. Amelia Tasco was sixth for Highland in 14.64 seconds.
Whitney Shinn won the girls 200m dash in 28.14 seconds. Amelia Tasco was sixth in 31.04 seconds.
Jacie Morris won the girls 400m dash for Schuyler County in 63.44 seconds. Morgan Keith was second for Highland in 69.44 seconds. Knox County freshman Savanna Schrage won a 400m bronze medal in 1:15.44 seconds. Rylee Schroder was fourth for Highland in 1:17.04 seconds. KCHS freshman Agnes Reel was sixth in the 400 meters in 1:18.24 seconds.
Nariah Clay won the girls 800m run for Canton in 2:36.70 seconds. Trinity Wright won the bronze medal in 2:40.20 seconds. Emma Harshberger took fifth for Highland in 3:07.90 seconds.
Xavia Cullers won both the girls 1600 and 3200 meter run races for Schuyler County. Cullers took the metric mile gold medal in 6:35 seconds. Paige Bishop was second for Scotland County in 6:43.20 seconds. Highland took the next two places. Alexis Vaughn won the bronze medal in 6:52.50 seconds Morgan Patton was fourth in 6:57.90 seconds.
Xavia Cullers won the girls 3200m run in 14:40 seconds. A pair of Highland freshmen claimed the next two medals. Carlie Davis took the silver medal and Kaycie Stahl won the bronze medal. Both runners had a listed time of 15:43 seconds.
Madison Fowler won the girls 100m hurdles for Schuyler County in 18.84 seconds. Keria Unglesbee was second for Highland in 19.74 seconds. Summer Goings won the bronze medal in 19.74 seconds.
Highland had a one-two finish in the girls 300m hurdles. Ansley Bringer won the gold medal in 55.94 seconds. Summer Goings claimed the silver medal in 59.24 seconds.
The Lady Cougars struck gold in both the girls sprint relay events. Highland won the girls 4x00m relay in 54.94 seconds. Canton was fourth at 59.64 seconds. Highland won the girls 4x200m relay in 1:56.40 seconds. Knox County won the silver medals in 2:07.10 seconds.
Schuyler County won the girls 4x400m relay gold medals in 4:34.40 seconds. Highland won the silver medals in 4:40.60 seconds. The Lady Cougars won the girls 4x800m relay in 11:45.80 seconds.
Mikayla Dreyer won the girls high jump for Highland at 4’8”. Caroline Linberger won the girls long jump for North Shelby at 15’1”. Ansley Bringer took a Highland silver medal at 14’10”. Whitney Shinn won the girls triple jump for North Shelby at 31’11¾”.
Kaitlyn Hatfield won the girls discus for Schuyler county at 106’1 ¼”. Freshman Dallis Dare won a Highland bronze medal at 100’2¾”. Knox County freshman Abigail Becker was fourth at 83’6¼”. Hanna Poor was sixth for the Lady Eagles at 69’2”.
Makinley Aeschliman won the girls javelin event for Schuyler County at 97’6 ¾”. Jennifer Hinkle took a Knox County silver medal at 94’ even. Emma Harshberger was fourth in the javelin for Highland at 83’8”. Highland freshman Olivia Ritterbusch took sixth at 71’9¾”.
Kaitlyn Hatfield won the girls shot put for Schuyler County at 35’9¼”. Knox County sophomore Cassidy Goodwin took the silver medal at 35’5¼”. Amy Goacher placed fourth for Highland at 28’10½”. Dallis Dare was fifth for the Lady Cougars at 27’10 ¾”. Hanna Poor placed sixth for Knox County at 26’10¾”.
