Centralia took an early lead and were never headed in a 17-2, five inning victory at Highland in April 6, 2021. Panther hurler Jackson Wells limited Highland to two hits while striking out 13 Cougar batters with two walks. Both Highland runs were earned.
Panther leadoff batter Lane Matthews walked leading off the game and scored on a groundout by Evan Bruns. Bruns doubled in a run during a three run third inning. Jack Romine tripled in another Centralia run.
Aiden Lay walked leading off the Highland third inning. Gage Dawson singled. Luke Geisendorfer drove in a run with a bases loaded walk.
Centralia sent 14 batters to the plate in a ten run fifth inning. Hunter Phillips came off the bench and delivered a two out, bases clearing double. Kile Chitwood doubled home two Panther scores.
Centralia scored 17 runs on ten hits. Evan Bruns was 2-4 with two runs scored and three batted in. Kile Chitwood was 3-3 with three runs scored and five batted in. Hunter Phillips had a hit and three RBI’s.
Highland scored two runs on two hits. Seth Evans and Gage Dawson had the Cougar hits. Drew Smith pitched four innings and took the loss. Smith struck out two with four walks on six hits. Five of the nine runs charged to the Highland starter were earned.
Seth Evans pitched 2/3 of an inning with three hits. Four of the eight runs charged to Evans was earned. Aiden Lay pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing one hit. The Cougars were charged with nine errors on the day.
