Blessed Be The Memory
I was almost three when I heard her first cry. Eight-one years later she breathed her last breath on Easter Sunday, 2021.
We were sisters and we were also best friends. We played paper dolls together, played “let’s pretend”, wore matching dresses and shirts made by our mother. When we were girls we shared a bed, as teenagers we played basketball. We sang a lot and enjoyed finding harmonies. We read poetry and fairy tales, played funny tricks on each other, gathered wild flower bouquets, and laughed a lot. Then she grew up and moved away. We visited by telephone very often and still laughed a lot.
Now the phone calls have stopped and summer visits will become only pleasant memories. Cancer won and I will miss her so very much. Blessed be the memory of Barbara. Rest in peace, dear girl.
Born March 28, 1940.
Died April 4, 2021.
I hope she is still laughing a lot as she is reunited with those who have preceded her to heaven.
