Knox County improved their overall record to 9-4, scoring eight times in the sixth inning for a 14-2, six inning run rule win at Novinger (5-3). Rylan Roberts stroked four Knox County hits. Blake Parrish struck out 13 Wildcats in five innings pitched.
Isaac McCurren doubled off Novinger ace pitcher Jace Brownell in the first inning. Brownell pitched around a walk to Braxton McCurren and an error, fanning the final two KC batters in the first inning.
Caden Smith singled off Blake Parrish leading off the Novinger first inning. Robert Dooley threw Smith out stealing for an important first out. Cole Carter walked. Eli Carter doubled Cole Carter to third base.
Blake Parrish struck out Novinger cleanup batter Jace Brownell with runners on second and third to end the Wildcat threat without allowing a run. Knox County got on the board in the top of the second inning.
Branson Miller drew a one out walk. Nick Hamlin singled after Branson Miller stole second base. Miller scored on an error. Knox County left a runner in scoring position. The Eagles led by a 1-0 margin after two complete innings. Blake Parrish struck out the side during the Wildcat second.
Knox County employed three consecutive doubles, putting three runs on the board during their third inning. Rylan Roberts singled leading off the top of the third. Roberts stole second and scored off a Robert Dooley double. Blake Parrish slammed a back to back RBI double.
Branson Miller stroked the third Knox County RBI double of the third inning pushing the lead to 4-0. Novinger answered with a single tally in the bottom of the third inning.
Caden Smith doubled leading off the Novinger third inning. Cole Carter delivered and RBI single for the 4-1 score after three full innings. Knox County scored twice in the top half of the fourth.
Conner Hayes drew a leadoff walk. Rylan Roberts got a one out RBI single. Roberts later scored on a passed ball for a 6-1 Eagle edge after four complete innings.
Novinger pulled closer when Caden Smith collected his third consecutive single and scored on an error. Novinger trailed 6-2 after five innings.
Jace Brownell pitched four innings for Novinger and took the loss. Brownell struck out six batters, walking three on eight hits. Four of the six runs charged to the Wildcat starter were earned.
Conner Robinson relieved in the fifth inning. Robinson pitched an inning and a third, striking out one Knox County batter on five hits. Four of the five runs charged to Robinson were earned.
Knox County stranded two runners in scoring position during the fifth inning. Isaac McCurren led off the Knox County sixth inning with a hit. Rylan Roberts followed with an RBI base knock.
Braxton McCurren singled but was thrown out attempting to stretch the hit into a double for the first out. Braydon Miller and Robert Dooley had hits and scored.
Branson Miller singled and scored. Nick Hamlin had an RBI double.
Rylan Roberts collected his second hit of the sixth inning. Novinger cut down two runners on the bases after Braxton McCurren reached base on a fielder’s choice. The inning ending double play sent the contest to the bottom of the sixth inning with Knox County on top of a 14-2 score.
Knox County reliever Braxton McCurren struck out the side, pitching around two walks for a scoreless sixth inning. The game ended by the ten run rule with Knox County claiming the 14-2 victory.
Novinger scored two runs on five hits. Caden Smith was 3-3 with two runs scored. Eli Carter finished the game on the mound for Novinger. Carter went 2/3 of an inning allowing three runs on three hits.
Knox County scored 14 runs on 17 hits and one error. Rylan Roberts was 4-5 at bat with three runs scored and three runs batted in. Conner Hayes had a hit in four at bats. Hayes scored two runs and drove in two more.
Nick Hamlin went 2-4 with a run scored and two batted in. Branson Miller was 2-2 with two runs scored and two RBI’s. Blake Parrish was 2-3 with two runs scored and another batted in. Robert Dooley went 2-4 with a Knox County RBI. Braxton McCurren had a hit and a run batted in.
Blake Parrish earned the win on the mound. Parrish tossed five innings, allowing five hits and two runs, one earned with 13 strikeouts and one walk. Braxton McCurren finished the game on the bump, striking out three with two walks and no hits or runs allowed in an inning pitched.
