RALPH MAYNARD JOHNSTON
Ralph Maynard Johnston, age 94, of Edina, Missouri, formerly of the Greensburg area passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in the LaPlata Nursing Home. Born August 10, 1926, near Fairfield, Iowa, Ralph was the son of Charles and Iola Mae Chapius Johnston.
He was united in marriage to Louise Boley in 1947, near Keosauqua, IA and they were the parents of Susan, Craig and John. Louise preceded him in death in 1995. In 1996 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Robertson at Greensburg, MO.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Johnston of Edina, MO; three children, Susan Ladwig of Edina, MO, Craig Johnston and wife, Heike of Columbia, MO, and John Johnston of Kirksville, MO; two stepsons, Terry Robertson and wife, Kim of Hannibal, MO, and Lyle Robertson and wife, Connie of Linn Creek, MO, four step grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise in 1995; sister, Clara and her husband Rex Whitcanack; and his son-in-law, Fred Ladwig.
Ralph received his education in Iowa. He served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. Ralph worked as a mechanic with his family at Johnston Motor Company in Edina and Memphis, MO for several years, till the business was closed in 1973.
Ralph also worked for several years at Kaser Rock Quarry and was engaged in farming. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Ralph was a member of Cyril Graham American Legion Post # 261 in Edina, MO, Greensburg Masonic Lodge # 414 A.F. & A.M. and the Edina Christian Church.
Visitation will be held at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO, Friday, May 14, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Masonic Rites being held at 7:30 p.m. conducted by Greensburg Masonic Lodge # 414.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Pastor Paul Harvey will officiate the services. Burial with full Military honors will be held in the Greensburg Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Jim Taylor, John Taylor, Jerry Taylor, Richard Clark, Steve Miller and Red Callahan.
