DONALD LEE STRANGE
Donald Lee Strange, age 80, of Knox City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
He was born in Knox County, MO, on May 9, 1941, the son of George Leroy and Josephine Parrish Strange. He was united in marriage to Sharon Marie Hettinger, the love of his life, on September 11, 1960, at the United Methodist Church, Brashear, MO. She survives.
He is also survived by eight children, sons, Kevin (Beth) Strange, Keith (Rhonda) Strange, Kent (Lori) Strange, Kirk (Marty) Strange, daughters, Kelli Strange-Pinson (John), Kim (Tim) Penn, Kesi (Mark) Glasgow, and Karla Strange Kelly; Grandchildren, Hannah (Drew) Horner, Ryan Strange (Ally), Mariah (Tom) England, Cassie Strange, Gunnar Strange, Jillian Strange (Erik), Jennah Strange, Corey (Keli) Huchteman, Grace O’Neal, Grant Pinson, James (Julie) Penn, Sarah (Felton) Enyard, Caleb Shubert (Ashley), Rachel Harrison McCarty, Jordan (Brittney) Harrison, Kyle Strange, and Keaton Strange; great-grandchildren, Braylyn, Ryder, Emma, Hoyt, Kyle, Clara, Meredith, Nathan, Nora, Cadence, Amani, Brooklyn, Tashaun, Tyrel. Brothers, Delmar (Sonjia) Strange, David Strange; Sisters, Dorothy Watson, DeeAnna (Hank) Gonnerman, Sister-in- Law, Yvonne McCauley. Many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Keeley Harsell; father and mother in-law, James and Clara Hettinger; Brothers-in-law, Jimmy Hettinger, Jack McCauley and Pat Marra; and sister-in-law, Janice Marra.
Donnie attended a small country school near Colony, Missouri, and graduated from Knox City High School. He was a lifelong farmer in the Bee Ridge Community and was a member of the Bee Ridge United Methodist Church. Donnie loved sports, especially baseball and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan but also enjoyed cheering for the hometown team, the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved being with and watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play any kind of sports and was their biggest fan.
Visitation will be held after 9 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021, with family receiving friends from 12 noon until time of funeral services at 2 pm at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri, with burial at the Bee Ridge UMC Cemetery following service. Reverend Greig Connell will officiate the service. Music will be provided by JoAnne Layman and Anita Miller. Selections will be On Eagles Wings and Because He Lives. With a recorded selection of Daddy’s Hands.
Casket Bearers will be grandson’s and Honorary Casket Bearers will be granddaughters.
