Brashear Takes Win Over Grundy County. Softball Game Postponed

Brandon Jochimsen plated Carson Erwin with a third inning base hit, opening scoring in a tight baseball contest at Brashear. The September 24, 2021 contest saw Brashear scored seven times in the fourth inning and go on to an 11-1 six inning win over the Grundy County-Newtown Harris coop.
The Panthers (4-2) answered when Mason Rayl put the ball in play, drawing a fourth inning error. Corbin Axtell doubled leading off the Grundy County fourth inning and scored on the error.
Brashear (4-4) second baseman John Higgins snared a line drive off the bat of Brian Peterson and started a double play for the first two outs of the Panther fourth inning.
Avery Zentz stroked a two out fourth inning single. The spark turned into a seven run flame. Anthony Shaw and Lucas Keller doubled for two Tiger runs and a 3-1 lead.
Jace Snelling was hit by a Corbin Axtell pitch, filling the bases with two out. Brandon Jochimsen blasted a grand slam home run for a 7-1 edge. Lane Stutsman followed with another Tiger home run for an 8-1 score in favor of Brashear.
The Tigers scored three more times in the bottom of the sixth inning. Lane Stutsman blasted a game winning three run homer for the 11-1 win in six innings.
Brashear scored 11 runs on nine hits. Carson Erwin was 2-2 at bat with two walks and two runs scored. Brandon Jochimsen was 2-4 with a grand slam home run and two runs scored.
Lane Stutsman was 2-4 with two home runs and four batted in. Jace Snelling pitched the six inning distance with five strikeouts, and two walks on two hits. The Panther run was unearned.
Grundy County scored one run on two hits. Corbin Axtell went 2-3 at bat with a Panther run scored. Corbin Axtell pitched four innings with six strikeouts, four walks and six hits. Seven of the eight runs charged to the Panther starter were earned.
Mason Rayl pitched one inning for Grundy County with one run on one hit.
The softball game between Grundy County and Brashear was postponed due to a lack of Panther players.
