Knox County scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning, snapping a seven all tie and moving on to the championship semifinals of the October 2, 2021 Schuyler County Varsity Softball Tournament. The Lady Tigers (5-11) did not score in the bottom of the sixth. The game was called after six innings due to the time limit.
Daniela Dooley, Taylor Walker and Shalee Zuccarini had three Knox County hits each. Knox County hurler Agnes Reel limited the Lady Tigers to three hits. Reel struck out two with six walks. Five of the seven Scotland County runs were earned.
Daniela Dooley and Taylor Walker were hit by pitches in the first inning. Dooley scored on a passed ball for a one run Knox County lead after one inning. Lauren Triplett singled and scored on a RBI grounder by Karli Hamilton.
The game was tied at one each after two innings. Baila Miller plated Brianna Miller on an RBI ground out. Taylor Walker singled and scored Shalee Zuccarini doubled in another run for a 5-1 KCHS lead. Scotland County picked off a runner to end the inning.
Kina Billings plated Hannah Feeney on a third inning error. The Tigers scored a manufactured run for a 5-3 Knox County lead after three full innings.
Bryston Bowen led off the Knox County fourth inning with a hit. Agnes Reel tripled Bowen home for a 6-3 edge. Daniela Dooley singled. Reel raced home for a 7-3 Knox County advantage after four innings.
Kina Billings hit an inside the park grand slam home run in the Scotland County fifth inning for a seven all tie. The time limit expired, setting up the top of the sixth inning like an extra inning affair.
Agnes Reel was put on second base via the International Tie Breaker rule. Daniela Dooley came through with an RBI hit. Jen Hinkle singled putting runners on first and second base with none out.
Brianna Miller reached base on a ground ball. The bases were loaded with nobody out and Knox County leading by an 8-7 margin. Taylor Walker drove in a KCHS run with a hit. Daniela Dooley scored the tenth Knox County run.
Two fly balls and a strikeout kept Kendall Small on second base. Knox County advanced with the 10-7 win in six innings.
Knox County scored the runs on 14 hits. Daniela Dooley was 3-3 at bat with three runs scored and another batted in. Brianna Miller was 2-4 with a run scored. Taylor Walker was 3-3 with a run scored and another batted in. Shalee Zuccarini was 3-3 with an RBI.
Scotland County scored seven runs on four hits. Kwyn Hamlin was 2-3 at bat. Kina Billings had a home run and four runs batted in. Hanna Anders pitched six Scotland County innings with six strikeouts, no walks on 13 hits.
