DALE EDWIN HATFIELD
Dale Edwin Hatfield, age 73, of Quincy, died Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at 4:30 a.m., in his home.
Dale was born July 16, 1948, in Edina, Missouri, the son of Hollie E. and Eva Lavon Barnes Hatfield.
He married Karen Sue “Susie” Silman on December 14, 1974, in Ewing Baptist Church, and from this union, Bruce and Kim were born.
He was formerly married to Carolyn Tyler on October of 1965, in Lewistown, Missouri, and from this union, Randall, Tina, and David were born.
He joined the United States Army in 1968 and was stationed at the Panama Canal until he was stationed in Vietnam. He served his country until his honorable discharge in 1970. Dale worked as an over the road truck driver from 1970 until his retirement with McNay Trucking in 2013. He was able to log over 4 million miles on the open road.
Dale loved racing, especially at the Quincy Raceways. He even received multiple awards during his time there from 1988 until 1998. After his time there, Sunday’s were for watching races at the raceway. He also loved NASCAR, and loved watching Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, and Kenny Schrader. Even though he loved racing, Dale still loved collecting Kabota Tractors and riding lawn mowers. Dale was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Dale was a clever and funny person to be around and never knew a single stranger. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He was a faithful member of Riverside Community Church where he was a current member.
In addition to his wife Susie, Dale is survived by his mother, Eva Hatfield; his children, Kim (Mike) Lenz of Liberty, IL, Bruce Hatfield of Quincy, Randall (Justyan) Hatfield of Pearland, TX, Tina (Rusty) Walker of Quincy, and David Hatfield of Quincy; 12 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchldren; 9 step-great grandchildren; three brothers, David Hatfield, Edina, MO, Donald Hatfield, of Hurdland, MO, and Virgil Hatfield, of Ewing, MO; his sister, Donna Cardwell, of Hurdland, MO; two brothers-in-law, David Michael of LaBelle, MO; and Randall Silman of Quincy; two sisters-in-law, Terry Zahn of Quincy; and Joanie Silman of Quincy; and a special family friend, Maggie Hatfield.
Dale was preceded in death by his father, his sister, Betty Lavon Michel; his great grandson, Jesse Dale Rowsey; his mother-in-law, Marvel Silman; three sisters-in-law: Janis Harms; Linda Beaston; and Kathy Crossett; two brothers-in-law: James and David Silman; two nephews, Bobby Eyler, Jr. and Marty Beaston, Jr.; a niece, Wendy Crossett; a great niece, Alissa Zornes; and a great great nephew, Adaiah Sill.
The family would like to express their thanks to Molly from Blessing Hospice for her loving care during the last few weeks. To their neighbors, Betty and Ernie Wood, Lynn Campbell, and Bill and Lori Chapman and their boys, for all their help.
Services were held Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Earl Wiseman officiating.
Burial was in Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois.
