Sixth ranked in Class 2 Harrisburg (11-3, 4-0 in the Lewis and Clark Conference) snapped a three game Knox County boys winning streak with a 60-43 win at Knox County on January 11, 2022 conference play at Knox County.
The Bulldogs took a ten point lead on a pair of Tanner Lanes free throws with 5:20 to play in the second quarter. Harrisburg led 12-9 after the opening period. Lanes hit another Harrisburg free throw for a 31-20 halftime lead.
Knox County came out of the dressing room aggressively. Tanner Gillaspy drove the lane for a 33-31 Harrisburg lead with four minutes to play in the third quarter. The Eagles took good shots during their hot streak.
Brayden Miller sank a three pointer with 2:24 showing on the third quarter clock. The Eagles barked on the Bulldogs’ heels for a 35-34 Harrisburg edge. Knox County outscored the Bulldogs 14-8 in the third quarter for a 39-34 Harrisburg lead.
Harrisburg answered the Knox County challenge. The Bulldogs reeled off an 18-2 run to a 53-36 lead with around three minutes to play in the game. Anthony Alicea sank a three ball followed by Nelson Shinkle’s field goal for a 58-40 margin with 1:25 remaining.
Harrisburg sank five three pointers to a pair of Knox County home run balls. The Bulldogs held a 15-9 advantage in made field goals at the end of play.
Tanner Lanes and Nelson Shinkle shared game scoring honors with 18 points each. Anthony Alicea scored 12 points. Brayden Ott was in double figures with ten Harrisburg points.
Braydon Miller was in double digits with ten KCHS points. Kellen Parrish scored five Eagle points. Jacob Becker scored four and Branson Miller added two Knox County points.
