LEAH SCHROCK OTTO

Leah Otto, age 87, of Novelty, Missouri, passed away peacefully with all of her six children surrounding her Friday, February 18, 2022, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO.

She was born August 12, 1934, in Arcola, IL, the daughter of Elmer J. and Fannie Plank Schrock.

Leah Schrock was united in marriage to Jephthah (Jeff) D. Otto on April 14, 1957 in Arthur, IL.

Surviving are six children, Peggy Sue (David) Ward of Siloam Springs, AR, Anita Rose (Chris) Wolvin of Burlington, N.J., Judith Ann (Michael) Schneider of Wiley, CO, Pamela Kay Ausmus of Edina, MO, Mark Wesley Otto of Newton, KS, and Connie Jo (Lonnie) von Thun of Leonard, MO; thirteen grandchildren, Grandchildren, Rachel (Austin) Maxwell, Bethany (Craig) Gallaway, Ryan Ward, Emily (Daniel) Hemple, Megan Wolvin, Heidi (Ty) Hartigan, Reuben (Melissa) Schneider, Maggie (Codey) Schmeiser, Karie (Jeremy) Holman, Katie (Jason)Wayman, Amber (Andy) Greenley, Taylor (Curtis) Weaver, Colton (Alexandra) von Thun, seventeen great grandchildren, Ellie, Adeline and Juliet Hemple Brooklyn Scherer, Saigeley and Liam Hartigan. Mia and Madelyn Schneider, Roan Schmeiser, Jace, James, and Joellyn Holman, Alivia and Westin Wayman, Lee and Miller Greenley, Georgia von Thun; three sisters, Alta Miller of IL, Christena Hanson of KS, and Erma (Monroe) Yoder of IN and many nieces and nephews.

Leah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings Edwin, Katie Ann, Melvin, Clarence and Vernon.

Leah attended country school in Illinois. In 1959 she and her husband moved from Illinois to Novelty where they were engaged in farming and to raise their family. Leah was an avid gardener, seamstress and quilter. She made well over 100 quilts for family and friends. She enjoyed accompanying her late husband to Sarasota, FL to spend the winters. Among other travels they visited Paraguay, Alaska and Hawaii. Leah was a member of Mt. Pisgah Mennonite Church of Cherry Box, MO.

Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in the Hudson- Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Visitation also from 10 a.m. till time of services on Wednesday, February 23th at the Mt. Pisgah Mennonite Church, Cherry Box, MO.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2022, in Mt. Pisgah Mennonite Church, in Cherry Box, officiated by Pastor Mike Schneider.

Burial will be in the Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Cherry Box, MO, with grandsons as casket bearers and honorary bearers will be granddaughters.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
