Fifth seeded Brashear overcame a five point first quarter deficit to eliminate conference rival Atlanta from the Class 1, District 11 girls’ tournament at La Plata by a 45-43 final score. The Lady Hornets (12-13) took an 11-6 first quarter lead. Brashear (10-16) trailed the fourth seeded Atlanta team 27-19 at the half.
Brashear used balanced scoring to reel off a 15-3 run to a 34-30 lead after three periods. Atlanta came back in the fourth quarter. Brashear sank all four final period free throws, holding off the Hornets for the 45-43 win.
Kyley Magers led all scorers with 24 Atlanta points. Aislynn Baker tallied nine Lady Hornet points.
Kynleigh White fired in 17 Brashear points. Lacey Fisher scored eight points. Cassidy Althide scored seven Tiger points. Alexa Borgmeyer scored five points. Aubrey Borgmeyer put in four points. Tayla Garlock added two points to the winning total.
