Marion County (19-5) threatened to run away with their February 22, 2022 Class 1, District 11 girl’s game with Brashear in the first quarter. Olivia Wood opened up a three point game with a home run ball at the one minute mark of the first quarter.
Marion County took an 11-3 first quarter lead. Brashear (10-17) fought back within a point when senior Kynleigh White scored with 2:03 to play in the first half. The Lady Mustangs were able to capitalize on Tiger turnovers for a 44-32 win.
The defeat eliminated Brashear from district consideration. The Lady Tigers and Tigers are scheduled to play a conference make up game at Novinger on March 2, 2022.
Delaney Straus scored with no time on the clock for a 23-19 Marion County halftime lead. Lacey Fisher pulled Brashear back within a 33-27 deficit with 2:39 to go in the third period. Marion County scored the final four points of the period for a 37-27 lead.
Tristen Holt sank a Mustang bucket for a 39-29 lead with 4:52 to play in the game. Cassidy Althide answered for the Tigers. Olivia Wood hit a free throw around the 2:20 mark of the fourth quarter. Delaney Straus scored for a 42-31 lead.
Aubrey Borgmeyer pulled down a rebound then sank a free throw for a 42-32 score with 1:20 to play in the final period. Delaney Straus scored a game high 15 Mustang points. Olivia Wood was in double figures with ten points.
Lacey Fisher led Brashear with eight points. Kynleigh White put in seven points. Cassidy Althide scored six points. Paige Stutsman scored five points. Aubrey Borgmeyer and Alexa Borgmeyer scored three points each.
