Knox County scored 11 first inning runs, evening their season record at 1-1 with a 17-0 win at Milan in three innings. Braxton McCurren pitched the first two innings for the victory. McCurren struck out four of his ten batters faced with three walks on one hit.
The Eagles responded from a 2-0 loss at Marion County with an 11 run on seven hit opening inning during the March 26, 2022 rescheduled contest. Branson Miller greeted Milan starter Deric Doporto with a leadoff hit. Isaac McCurren reached base on an error.
Braxton McCurren stroked a two RBI double. Robert Dooley followed with a hit. Holden Goucher belted a first inning two RBI hit. Isaac McCurren drew a bases loaded walk for another Eagle tally.
Braxton McCurren drilled his second two run hit in the same inning. Robert Dooley sent a three run homer over the left center field fence. Milan first baseman Blayton Dibble turned in a nice fielding play at first base to end the inning.
The Wildcats mounted a two out first inning rally. Deric Doporto doubled for Milan. Keaton Weter drew a walk. Braxton McCurren struck out a batter to end the inning with no runs scored.
Knox County led 11-0 entering the first inning. The Eagles batted around scoring five times on three hits. Braxton McCurren had his third two RBI hit in as many at bats during the second inning rally.
Rylan Roberts drove in two runs with a base hit. The Eagles ended a scoreless second inning with a 7-2-6 double play. Knox County took a 16-0 lead to the third inning.
“I thought we threw the ball very well today,” Knox County coach David Cameron said. “Braxton Miller was very good on the mound. I thought our approach at the plate was better than Monday night.”
Two outstanding Marion County pitchers blanked the Eagles on 16 strikeouts during a 2-0 win. “We played both games pretty well defensively. Monday Night, Cooper Stott was pretty amazing on the mound,” David Cameron said.
Knox County won the JV game by an 11-2 score. Reice Miller pitched four very solid innings. Kellen Parrish finished the five inning JV game in relief.
Braydon Miller singled and scored off a Branson Miller two out RBI hit for the 17th Eagle tally. Knox County scored 17 runs on 12 hits unofficially. Knox County stranded four runners.
Branson Miller was 2-2 with three runs scored and another batted in. Isaac McCurren scored three runs with two RBI’s. Braxton Miller was 3-3 with three runs scored and six runs batted in.
“A lot of my hits today didn’t have a lot of contact, but I did my job,” Braxton McCurren said. “I had to make some adjustments. I punched the ball to right field. (Deric Doporto) gave me a curve ball I could drive to right field on two strikes.”
“I choked up on the bat both times., That’s something I normally don’t do,” Braxton McCurren said. “We shouldn’t have lost that game to Marion County. We know that. We knew we would have to make a statement today and we did that.”
Robert Dooley went 2-3 with a home run and three RBI’s. Rylan Roberts was 2-2 with a run scored and two batted in. Holden Goucher had a hit, scored two runs and drove in two more.
Rylan Roberts pitched the last inning with three strikeouts and two walks on no hits and no runs allowed. Milan was blanked on one hit.
