Brashear got off to a good start in their April 5, 2022 varsity baseball contest with previously unbeaten Princeton. The homestanding Tigers scored five first inning runs then held on for a storm shortened 11-8 win in five innings.

Clay Evans reached on another walk. Carson Erwin snared a line drive and threw to John Higgins for a double play. The play loomed large when Mason Morris sent a two run Princeton homer over the right field fence for a 7-3 score entering the Brashear third inning.
Lucas Keller drilled a solo shot home run with one down in the third inning. The Tigers would have picked up another run if Princeton third baseman Landon Krohn had not robbed Avery Zentz of a hit in the preceding at bat.
Princeton took advantage of two Brashear errors and got their offense rolling in the top of the fourth inning. Gavin Power singled leading off the Princeton fourth. Brandon Jochimsen picked Power off first base.
Talan Holt reached on an error. Two passed balls and another Brashear error allowed Holt to score. Carson Erwin came on to pitch for Brashear. Brandon Jochimsen pitched three and a third innings with two strikeouts two walks on three hits and four runs allowed.

Jack Reeves walked. Avery Zentz reached on an error. Alex Houghton drove in two runs with a two out double. Princeton manufactured two fifth inning runs. Kelby Thomas came in to pitch for Princeton in the fifth inning.
Lane Stutsman singled with two out in the fifth. Brandon Jochimsen walked. Thomas struck out a batter with runners on first and third base to end the inning. Brashear led by an 11-8 score.
The weather began a turn for the worse. Rain began to fall. Princeton was batting in the top of the sixth inning. Conditions deteriorated. Princeton wound up scoring five runs on two hits and an error.
Lightning forced suspension of the contest. Sheets of rain and gusty winds eventually flooded the field. A torrent of water ran down the street in front of the Brashear school buildings.
Umpires, coaches and athletic directors from both schools agreed to stop play for the day. It was announced that since the game was official after four and a half innings with the home team ahead, the final outcome would revert back to the last completed inning.
