Knox County (6- 3) scored eight third inning runs, remaining unbeaten in Lewis and Clark Conference play with a 10-0 win over Fayette in five innings. Kellen Parrish tossed a one hitter, striking out nine Falcon batters with one walk and a hit batsman.
Kaleb Friebe stroked the lone Fayette hit with one out in the fifth inning. The perfect game bid went by the wayside when Gabe Shifflet was hit by a pitch with one out in the fourth inning.
Isaac McCurren walked and scored a first inning run. Joey Davis plated Braxton McCurren and Robert Dooley with a two run third inning single. Kellen Parrish was hit by a pitch. Rylan Roberts singled in another run.
Isaac McCurren belted a two RBI double. Braxton McCurren lofted a sac fly for another score. Robert Dooley hit a sacrifice fly to right field. Knox County led 9-0 after three innings.
Braydon Miller saw a chance for a game winning RBI slip away when a ground ball struck a KCHS runner heading for third base. The Eagles hit into a double play in the fifth inning. Branson Miller reached base on a hit batsman and scored the game winner on an error.
Knox County scored ten runs on four official hits and no errors. For different Eagles had a hit each. Isaac McCurren, Robert Dooley and Joey Davis had two Knox County runs batted in each.
Tyler Bartholomew pitched the first two innings for Fayette and took the loss. Haden Kelly pitched two innings with three strikeouts on one hit and one walk. Alex McBain pitched the final 2/3 of an inning.
Knox County had bad weather fortune. The Eagles had the rest of their weeks schedule washed out after the April 19, 2022 win over Fayette.
Knox County plays at Canton on Monday and travels to Schuyler County on Tuesday weather permitting this week.
