The Knox County Library has begun our summer reading program. This year’s theme is “Oceans of Possibilities.” On Wednesdays in June and July at 10:00 AM guest readers come to the library to share stories, crafts and treats.
On July 6, our guest was The Mad Scientist. He talked about air pressure, made ink like an octopus, made whale sounds and measured how big a shark, ocra and a sperm whale is.
He told the kids it wouldn’t be responsible to have those large ocean dwellers in the library!
Each week a book is given away as a door prize. This week’s winner was Ananias Burkholder. Many other children had their name’s drawn for smaller prizes.
In addition to our Wednesday morning programs, children are keeping lists of the books they read and when they finish a list, bring it in for a prize from our treasure chest. Their book lists are put in a drawing for a weekly prize.
All this activity is pretty exciting for the library!
Next week we will have a magician as our guest. He is a professional performer that we think the children will love!
Come join us for our Wednesday morning programs at 10:00 each week in June and July.
