BESSIE M. STAMBAUGH

Mrs. Bessie M. Stambaugh, age 91, of La Grange, MO passed away at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL on Thursday, October 13, 2022, surrounded by her family while listening to her favorite hymns.

She was born May 12, 1931, in Odell, IL a daughter of Martin E. and Mabel E. Heckendorn Lund. She married Raymond E. Stambaugh on February 5, 1950, in Steffenville, MO. He passed away on March 23, 2013.

She was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church near Steffenville until its closing and then she became a member of the Durham United Methodist Church where she was a member of its United Methodist Women. She was a wonderful cook and prepared delicious family dinners until recently. She was an excellent gardener and enjoyed canning many of the vegetables she grew. She quilted, crocheted journalled daily and made fantastic homemade noodles. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Survivors include two sons, David (Diane) Stambaugh of Lewistown, MO and Edward (Patricia) Stambaugh of La Grange; two daughters, Virginia (Mike) Carpenter of Novelty and Mary (Russ) Hill of Carrollton, MO; grandson, Scott Stambaugh of Orlando, FL and step grandson, Jeff (Beth) Lochbaum of Liberty, IL; granddaughters, Brenda (Doug) Mallett and Kimberly (Aren) Schneider both of La Grange, Amber (Justin) Smith of Parkville, MO, and Valerie (Mike) Pounders of Raymore, MO; several great and step great grandchildren; brother, Martin (Kathy) Lund of Bethel, MO; sister, Dorothy Jones of Bethel, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Howard, Ralph, Richard, Donald Lund, sisters Ruth Jones and Doris Bauerrichter, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange with Martha Ann Jones officiating. Music: In the Garden, How Great Thou Art, Old Rugged Cross (Alan Jackson)

Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery, Steffenville, MO. Pallbearers will be: Gregory Farr, Keith Bauerrichter, Aren Schneider, Doug Mallett, Drew Mallett and Brock Schneider and honorary pallbearers: Larry Lund, Roland Farr, Justin Smith, Mike Pounders and Scott Stambaugh.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 17, 2022, from 4 until 8 p.m. with family greeting friends after 6 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange.
