Brian and Rhonda Burton are the new pastors at Edina Assembly of God, originally the Burton’s are from the Northeast part of Missouri, around Bethany.
The couple moved over to Hurdland a couple of years ago to be closer to grandchildren but had some previous connections to this area. Brian’s grandfather, Keith Burton, pastored the Assembly of God Church in Knox City back in the mid ‘80s. His family moved to Knox City in ’84 helping in the church for the summer.
The day before school started for his sophomore year, Brian’s father, Larry Burton became the pastor at Fulton Assembly of God in Fulton, Missouri, so he didn’t get to attend school in Knox County. Fulton is where Brian and Rhonda met and eventually married. Following high school, Brian attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, which is now Evangel University. He finished his ministerial credential studies with Berean Bible Institute.
Brian and Rhonda have two adult children, Ashli Linhart of Bethel, Missouri, and Trevor Burton of Mercer, Missouri. They have three grandchildren, Lily, age 9, Rhett age 5, and Lexi age 3.
They are quite musical, which is no surprise with Paul and Marsha (Parrish) Burton of Knox City being Brian’s uncle and aunt. Both are great singers. Brian plays the piano primarily, but also plays guitar and other instruments.
They look forward to making the move clear over to Edina into the parsonage beside the church. Brian said they are community minded and look forward to becoming involved.
