Delah May (Thrasher) Whan, age 90, of Knox City, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023, in Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

She was born December 26, 1932, near Bethel, Missouri, in the Epworth community, the daughter of Raymond “Earl” Thrasher and Lela May Latimer Thrasher. She was united in marriage to Rodney Ellsworth Whan on September 9, 1951, in Shelbina, MO and he preceded her in death on February 14, 2011. Delah was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Debra Bost in 1988, one son Dwight Whan in 2009 and two brothers Raymond Thrasher and Harlan Dean Thrasher.

Surviving are two children, Barbara (Mike) Russell of Warrensburg, MO, David Whan of Knox City, MO, and his friend Deanna Rood of Kirksville, MO, a daughter-in-law Pam Coleman of Fenton, MO, and a son-in-law Rev. Milton Bost of Chatham, IL., eight grandchildren, Braden Bost, Gavin Bost, Nathan Bost, Justin Russell, Jaime Miller, Ethan Whan, Evan Whan and Hannah Whan, seven great grandchildren, Clara, Dorian and Phoebe Bost, Colby and Aubrey Miller, Derek and Dane Whan, and several nieces and nephews.

Delah graduated from Bethel High School in 1951. Delah was a farm wife and helped her husband on the farm. They lived in Memphis, MO, Quincy, IL, Canton, MO, moved to the Bee Ridge community in 1954, later moved south of Knox City in 1956 and then east of Edina where they purchased a farm in 1974. Delah has lived the past twelve years on their farm east of Knox City, MO. Delah enjoyed flowers, gardening, baking, and spending time with family. She was a member of the Knox City Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Reverend Jack Sumption will officiate the services. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, MO. Music will be provided by Carol Hayes, organist and Milton Bost, soloist singing In The Garden. Recorded selections will be “I Believe” and “Scars In Heaven”.

Casket bearers will be Rex Sykes, Dale Stice, Kevin Thrasher, Braden Bost, Justin Russell and Ethan Whan.

Honorary bearers will be Evan Whan, Jeff Whan, Bill Whan and Clifton Ewalt.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson- Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
