The North Missouri Knights closed on a 16-9 run for a 42-38 win over Brashear in the girl’s third place game of the 94th Annual Brashear Tournament. The February 11 game saw Brashear roll to a 15-6 third quarter burst, erasing a six point halftime deficit for a 29-26 lead after three quarters.
Brashear turnovers and Knights missed scoring chances put the Knights up 6-5 after the opening period. The Knights cracked off a 10-0 second quarter run for a 20-14 halftime lead.
The Lady Tigers (9-15) battled back to tie the score at 63 on Aubrey Borgmeyer’s bucket with 2:48 remaining in the game. Lacey Fisher put the Tigers on top with a putback at the 50 second mark for a 38-36 edge.
Broke Bond hit two field goals and a three ball in the final 23 seconds for a three point lead with 12 seconds remaining. The Lady Tigers missed a chance to tie the game when a three ball out of the corner missed the mark.
The Knights got the ball out of bounds with 3.7 seconds to play. Brooke Bond sealed the game with a free throw with two seconds showing on the clock.
Brashear held a 16-10 field goal advantage. The Knights sank five three pointers to none for Brashear. The Lady Tigers went 6-10 from the free throw line. The Knights were 7-12 from the line.
Lacey Fisher scored a game high 17 Tiger points. Fisher and Aubrey Borgmeyer were named to the All-Tournament team. Aubrey Borgmeyer scored nine BHS points. Maddie Moots scored five points. Heidi Lay put in three points. Cassidy Althide and Tayla Garlock added two BHS points.
Norah Gottman led the Knights with 16 points. Brooke Bond fired in 14 points.
