Novinger took advantage of Brashear turnovers and got better shots during a 47-39 Brashear Tournament girl’s semifinal win. The Lady Wildcats took a 25-14 halftime lead. The Lady Tigers (9-15) fared better in the second half but could not come all the way back.
Novinger employed good floor positioning. The Lady Wildcats made plays. Abby Fountain completed a three point play for a 38-24 lead after three quarters. Brashear had their best eight minutes in the fourth quarter.
Novinger got to the rim and finished. The Lady Wildcats led 45-35 with two minutes remaining in the game. Brashear finished with a 15-9 burst.
Brashear held a 16-14 field goal edge at the close of play. The improved Wildcats fired in four three pointers to one Cassidy Althide home run ball in the fourth period. Brashear was 4-11 at the free throw line. Novinger sank 7-12 from the stripe.
Abbi Fountain scored a game high 15 Wildcat points. Avery Carter was in double digits with 12 points. Kelsey Frederick tallied ten points.
Aubrey Borgmeyer led Brashear with 14 points. Lacey Fisher scored 12 points. Cassidy Althide put in five points. Paige Stutsman scored four points. Tayla Garlock and Heidi Lay added two points each.
