Novinger Girls Win Regular Season Finale. Brashear Boys Defeat Wildcats

Novinger took a 19-13 first quarter lead in their regular season ending girl’s game with Brashear. The Lady Wildcats (15-11) paced by a 34-23 margin at the close of the first half. Brashear (9-17) pulled within a 38-33 deficit at the close of the fourth quarter.
Novinger brought the curtain down with a 26-9 fourth quarter run to a 64-42 win. Brashear played a solid floor game. Novinger held an 18-16 field goal margin. The Wildcats tossed in six three pointers to one for Brashear.
The Wildcats went 8-15 from the free throw line. Brashear made seven of 13 from the stripe.
Abbi Fountain scored a game high 21 Novinger points. Kelsey Frederick fired in 19 Wildcat points. Emma Steele was in double figures for Novinger with 11 points.
Lacey Fisher scored 18 Tiger points. Paige Stutsman scored 15 points. Aubrey Borgmeyer and Maddie Moots scored four points each. Heidi Lay added one Brashear point.
Novinger jumped out to a 24-12 second quarter lead in the boy’s game. Brashear cracked off a ten point run, knotting the halftime score at 28. Brashear outscored Novinger (10-16) 30-20 in the second half for a 58-48 win.
Brashear (14-12) has won five of their last six boys games heading into their Monday, February 20, 2023 district match with La Plata. Brashear hit on 19 field goals and were 4-17 from the three point line.
Novinger out rebounded Brashear 46-39 on the night. Novinger was on the right side of the turnover battle at 19-13. The Tigers stole the ball 12 times as a team.
Carson Erwin fired in 32 Brashear points with nine rebounds. Cole Erwin scored nine points with six rebounds and five steals. Jack Reeves scored seven points with seven rebounds. Alex Houghton put in four points. Lucas Keller scored two points with two steals and nine rebounds.
Noah Shannon and Avery Zentz added two points each. Zentz recorded three rebounds. Brashear plays La Plata on Tuesday night at 5PM for their first round district game at La Plata.
