 CLAYTON ALAN MARSHALL 

Clayton Alan Marshall, age 87, of rural Edina, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023, in Columbia, Missouri. 

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 2, 1935, the only child of Elvin Clayton and Helen Louise Leonard Marshall. 

Clayton proudly served his country in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Labrador, Newfoundland. He later attended training at the National School of Aeronautics in Kansas City before gaining employment in New York City with then, Capital Airlines. It was there he met the love of his life; Carol Ann Lorey and they were united in marriage on March 5, 1960, in Pekin, IL. After a honeymoon in the southwest, the couple relocated to Colorado and later had two daughters, Dallas (Terry Humphrey) and Cristal (Mark Hill). He was then employed with Western/Frontier Airlines. In 1987, Clay and Carol Ann moved to Knox County, MO where they resided on the Barnhill-Lorey family farm. He was employed as a printer at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO until retiring in 1999. 

Clay was an avid gun and bow hunter, expert fly fisherman and enjoyed camping whenever he could. He had an amazing sense of humor with a touch of creative genius. 

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife on July 27, 2012. 

He is survived by his daughters, Dallas and Cristal, their husbands, Terry and Mark and a handful of cousins. 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Sunday. 

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Officiating the services will be Pastor Paul Harvey. Musical selections will be Stars In My Crown, America The Beautiful and Wind Beneath My Wings. 

Burial with full military honors will be in the Harmony Cemetery south of Edina, MO. Casket bearers will be Terry Humphrey, Mark Hill, Karen Stone, David Clark, Alan Morgret, Tim Hamlin and John McCarty. Honorary bearers will be Frank Hamlin, Gene McCarty, Lynn Douglas and Tom Morgret.
