DOUGLAS KENT (STUB) SIMMONS

Douglas Kent (Stub) Simmons, age 63, of Knox City, Missouri, passed away in his home on March 18, 2023. He was born on October 14, 1959, in Kirksville, Missouri. The son of Arthur Glen Simmons and Betty Jean Breeden Simmons. On December 10, 1988, in LaBelle, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Marilyn (Pete) Baxter Simmons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Gene Huebotter and Jim Lasswell. Surviving are his wife and two children, Maranda (Robert) Ward of Edina and Kane Douglas Simmons of Columbia, Missouri, three grandchildren: Wesley Dean, Elijah Walker, and Mattie Nicole Ward. His brothers, Art (Roena) Simmons, Jon (Betty) Simmons, Bill Simmons, and Carl (Nicole) Simmons. Sister-in-laws Betty Huebotter, Sharon (Sam) Leslie, Karen Lasswell, Jo Baxter, and Rita (Bill) Bozarth and several nieces and nephews, as well as special friends Todd and Lori Goodwin.

Stub received his education from Highland High School, graduating in 1977. He was engaged in farming and raising cattle and hogs in his early years. Stub also helped his father with his bulldozing business. Stub enjoyed coyote and prairie dog hunting in South Dakota while visiting his friends Charlie and Eddie. He also spent many hours at “The Office,” solving the world’s problems with his friends.
