Robert Dooley and Braxton McCurren gathered three hits each and drove in a combined five runs, leading Knox County to a 14-0 win over Novinger in five innings. Dooley pitched the five inning distance, striking out eight batters on three hits.
Both teams had runners in scoring position in the first inning but did not put runs on the board. Jace Brownell and Cory Kennedy were hit by pitches in the Wildcat first. A strikeout and a fielders’ choice ended the threat.
Rylan Roberts touched Wildcat starter Koenn Stewart for a one out first inning double. Stewart induced a pop up and a ground out, leaving Roberts stranded on second base for a scoreless first frame.
Beau Yos drew a one out second inning walk. Koenn Stewart singled with one out in the Novinger second. A strikeout preceded Rylan Roberts throwing Yos out attempting to steal for the third out.
Kellen Parrish drew a leadoff walk in the KCHS second inning. Kellen Parrish eventually scored the game’s first run on an error. Knox County took a 1-0 edge to the third inning.
Robert Dooley pitched around a two out walk for a scoreless third inning. Knox County put the first five batters of their third inning on base. All five men scored. Koenn Stewart pitched two innings plus, allowing three hits. The Novinger starter was charged with five runs, three earned with one strikeout and two walks.
Blake Parrish doubled leading off a nine run on ten hit third inning. Rylan Roberts walked. Both runners scored. Robert Dooley stroked an RBI hit. Braxton McCurren drove in two runs with a base hit.
Nolan Partin relieved, inducing a pop up to first base for the first out of inning three. Ryan Hall drove in a run with the first of two base hits in the same inning. Cooper Clair drove in another run with an RBI single.
Blake Parrish picked up his second hit and run scored in the same inning. Four Eagles performed that relatively rare feat during the Knox County third inning. Braxton McCurren and Robert Dooley were the remaining multi hit players.
Knox County put two more runs up during their fourth inning. The Eagles scored 14 runs on11 hits. Braxton McCurren continued his big offensive day going 3-4 with two runs score and five batted in.
Robert Dooley went 2-4 with two runs scored and three runs batted in. Blake Parrish had two hits and an RBI.
Novinger was shut out on three hits. Nolan Partin and Quincy Chapman pitched for the Wildcats, striking out one each.
Milan was up 7-3 with two out in the Novinger second inning when the game was called due to lightning and inclement weather. Jace Brownell cashed in three bases on balls with a three RBI second inning hit.
Grayson Smith had two Milan hits and two runs scored. Keaton Weter was 2-2 with two runs scored and two batted in. Ethan Bennett scored two Wildcat runs. Jayden Sizemore tripled in a second inning score.
Jace Brownell struck out three Milan batters in two full innings pitched. Jeremy Bennett fanned three with five walks on one hit in an inning and 2/3 pitched for Milan.
