“We do have a good group of underclassmen coming up,” Lauren Dale told the Edina Sentinel. “We have a lot of speed, which we haven’t had in a while. Our outfield is probably going to be one of the quicker outfields that we have had in a while.”
“Their athleticism that they bring. They are going to push out upperclassmen to be better,” Coach Dale said of her younger players. “They are going to bring competition to each position.”
“We have good kids. They made it work. I think that last year the kids bought into the program. The leadership we have seen is that buy in. It’s exciting to see because we have underclassmen who want to learn,” Lauren Dale said.
“They want to be a sponge to learn what we are doing. What it is about. We have upperclassmen that are not letting them get away with continuing old habits. We are tying to break the old habits and continue some new ones,” Dale said.
“Seeing that is exciting. That leadership is just going to carry on through to the next classes. We are going to put Shaylee Zuccarini behind the plate. We set time for Shaylee and (assistant coach Riley Strange) to work with her. She wants to learn. She wants to do it.”
“When I asked who was going to step up and be our catcher after last season, she was one of the first ones to step up and say I will do it. If she is going to do it, she wants to be good at it.”
