DOROTHY MARIE GONNERMAN
Dorothy Marie Gonnerman, age 92, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023, in Kirksville, Missouri.
Born May 29, 1931, in Knox County, Missouri, Dorothy was the daughter of Alva and Charlotte Marie Cheline Keith.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Charles Van Dolah and to this union two sons were born, Mike and Mark Van Dolah. Then on July 15, 1967, she was united in marriage to James R. Gonnerman and to this union two daughters were born Kim and Tracy Gonnerman.
Surviving are her husband, Jim Gonnerman of Kirksville, MO; two sons, Mike and Judy Fisher Van Dolah of Lake Ozark, MO and Mark and Lynn Van Dolah of Kirksville, MO; two daughters, Kim and Matt Jennings of Columbus, WI and Tracy and Sean Walker of Sioux City, IA; eight grandchildren, Carissa Handzel, Justin Van Dolah, Brian and Jill Van Dolah, Shayne and Kylie Walker, Sydney and Bailee Walker, Solomon Walker, Ethan Jennings and Wyatt Jennings; nine great grandchildren, Emaline and Zella Handzel, Cade and Bennett Van Dolah, Cruz and Landry Van Dolah, Quinn, William and Mildred Walker, and Taylor Lloyd who was like a grandchild; a brother-in-law, Paul Gonnerman of Payson, AZ; and a sister-in-law, Betty Jo Gonnerman of Hurdland, MO.
She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Brian Gonnerman in 1968; one brother, Jerome Keith; and two sisters, Charlotte Louise Fisher and Martha Elizabeth White.
After attending Edina High School, she resided in Colorado. Following the passing of Charles, Dorothy and the boys returned to Edina. Upon moving to Kirksville Dorothy provided daycare for years to children who became like family. Dorothy enjoyed being a being a homemaker, cooking, flowers, and she took great pride in a well-manicured lawn. Mostly she greatly enjoyed spending time with her family whom, is greatly loved.
Dorothy was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Edina and later the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church of Kirksville. She was also a member of the Mary Immaculate Altar Society.
Visitation and a Mass of Christian Burial were held on Monday, September 18, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Edina, MO. Father Walter Kispotta and Deacon Ken Berry will be officiating.
Interment was held immediately following Mass at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Edina, MO.
