DORIS AMAGENE BROWNING

Doris Amagene Browning, age 95, of Novelty, Missouri, passed away October 24, 2023, at the LaPlata Nursing Home in LaPlata, Missouri.

She was born September 27, 1928, the daughter of Arthur and Ona (Simmons) Dehner.

She was united in marriage to Harold Browning on June 26, 1948, in Shelbina, Missouri, who preceded her in death on March 4, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, J.L. Dehner.

After graduating from high school, she was a schoolteacher until her marriage. They lived briefly in Kansas City, Missouri before making their home in Novelty, Missouri.

Amagene enjoyed traveling, playing Canasta and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her three daughters; Lynn Van Dolah and her husband, Mark of Kirksville, Missouri; Lois Browning of Schaumburg, Illinois; and Leah Kramer and her husband Kent of Pensacola Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, Carissa Handzel (Chris) of Overland Park, Kansas; Justin Van Dolah of Kirksville, Missouri; Jarred Kramer (Kate) of Ankeny, Iowa; and Ian Kramer of Manhattan, Kansas; and special friend Kris Tomac (Lizette) of Bartlett, Illinois. Also surviving are her great-children: Emaline Handzel, Zella Handzel, Cruz Van Dolah, Landry Van Dolah, Jensen Kramer, Emily Tomac and Luka Tomac. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty Pike of Washington, Missouri and Jeanette Foreman of Kirksville, Missouri.

Graveside service were held Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Novelty Cemetery. There was no visitation. Pastor Tresia Griffith officiated for the service.

Casket bearers were Carissa Handzel, Chris Handzel, Justin Van Dolah, Kris Tomac, Jarred Kramer, and Ian Kramer. Honorary bearers were Jason Violette, Greg Pike, and Kevin Foreman.

Memorials are suggested to the Novelty Senior Center, Novelty Cemetery or Hospice of Northeast Missouri and may be left or mailed to the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
