Brashear got off to a hot start in December 12, 2023 home conference action with La Plata. The Tigers stole the basketball and beat the Bulldogs down the floor, scoring the first 12 points of a 55-48 Brashear win.
The Tigers took a 14-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. La Plata stormed back with an 11-2 run to a 14-13 Tiger edge with 6:45 to play in the second quarter. Much of the remainder of the game was closely contested.
Brashear led 31-28 at the half. The Tigers led by as many as six points in the third quarter. Brashear took a 41-38 lead into the final eight minutes.
Kendrick Hulett tied the game at 48 with 2:23 to play in the contest. La Plata missed good scoring opportunities late in the game. Carson Erwin hit a pair of free throws with 40.8 seconds showing on the clock. Brashear got a Deyton White free throw with 25-6 seconds to play.
Brashear answered the challenge of the turnover fueled game tying basket with seven unanswered points for the 55-48 win.
Carson Erwin scored a game high 29 Brashear points. Cole Erwin tossed in 20 points. Clancy Noe was the next high Tiger scorer with three points.
Kendrick Hulett led La Plata with 24 points. Tucker Beautte was next in line with seven points.
