WILLIAM THOMAS “BILL” DELANEY
William Thomas “Bill” Delaney, age 89, of Edina, Missouri, died Saturday, November 30, 2024, at University Hospital in Columbia. Bill was born in Edina, Missouri on May 9, 1935, to Arthur David and Jewell Rose (Cain) Delaney. He married Margaret Ann Klocke on May 31, 1957, and she preceded him in death on December 18, 2023.
Bill was a graduate of the St. Joseph High school and had worked for the Lewis County REC for 47 years, first as a lineman and then as a line superintendent retiring in January 2000. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina and the Knight of Columbus. He was very active in following his sons and later his grandchildren’s sporting events, played Wednesday night cards for over 60 years, and most of all he enjoyed being with his family. He was an Edina resident all his life.
He is survived by his five sons and their wives, Barry and Connie Delaney of Jefferson City, David and Kristi Delaney of Marceline, Bob and Marie Delaney of Kirksville, Rick and Lesa Delaney of Edina, and Michael and Ashley Delaney of Parkville; eleven grandchildren, Lauren McQuiston- Fall and husband Owen of St. Louis, MO, Matthew Delaney and wife Lisa of St. Charles, MO, Eric Delaney and wife Crystal of Edmond, OK, Jason Delaney and wife Lu of Chillicothe, MO, Kiley Herriman and Christian Hayes of Marceline, MO, Patrick Delaney and wife Miranda of Brownsburg, IN, Ashley Lamp and husband Jacob of Kansas City, MO, Brad Hunt of Lancaster, MO, Chrissy Hudson of Newark, MO, Andrew Hays, and Maggie Delaney, both of Parkville, MO; thirteen great-grandchildren and one coming in February, Austin and Luke Delaney, Karyn and Jillian Delaney, Deakan and Kenna Delaney, Pyper and Octavia Hayes, Brock and Roman Delaney, Griffin Lamp, Lorelei and Isobele Hudson; sister, Carol Fox and husband Mike of Edina; niece, DeeNita Whiteley of St. Louis, MO; two nephews, Brian Fox and wife Stephanie of Springfield, MO, Mark Fox and wife Emily of Springfield, IL; a very close cousin, Fr. Michael W. Penn of Lake Ozark; and his many card playing friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; two sisters, Mary and Francie Delaney; and brother-in-law, Marion Klocke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at St, Joseph Catholic Church in Edina with burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Doss Funeral Home in Edina.
