Brashear Wins Extra Inning Battle with Mustangs

Bailyn Halley drove in the winning run with one out in the eighth inning of Brashear-Novinger’s battle with one of the other Tri-County Conference baseball coops when Brashear downed the Linn County-Meadville Coop by an 11-10 margin.
Brashear put three first inning runs up on Cade Erwin, Koenn Stewart and Riley Whitlow RBI hits. Quentyn Smith plated a Mustang run during the top of the second inning.
An RBI triple put the home standing Brashear team up 6-4 in the back and forth contest. Linn County’s Noah Wood knotted the score in the top of the third. Brashear led 7-6 after three complete innings.
The competitors exchanged three run rallies during their sixth and seventh innings. Linn County sent the game to extras tied at ten all with a three run top of the seventh.
Linn County scored ten runs on eight hits and ten errors. Quentyn Smith was 2-3 for Linn County with two RBI. Nathaniel Singleton went 2-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Leland Grismore was 2-4 with two runs scored and another batted in.
Three Mustang hurlers combined for 12 strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings pitched. Quentyn Smith struck out eight men in four innings pitched on eight hits and four walks. Seven runs, one earned were charged to the Mustang starter.
Brashear scored 11 runs on 12 hits and one error. Koenn Stewart was 2-4 for Novinger-Brashear with a run scored and two batted in. Bailyn Halley had two hits and two RBI.
Bailyn Halley, John Higgins, Drew Magruder and Cade Erwin pitched for Brashear. Higgins struck out six batters in 2 2/3 of an inning. Cade Erwin fanned three batters in two IP. Bailyn Halley struck out four in two and a third. Drew Magruder had two strikeouts in an inning of work.
