Knox County Library Hosts Story Hours With Special Guests and Summer Fun
The Knox County Library continued its popular summer story hour series with special guest readers, prizes and themed activities for local children.
On Wednesday, June 18, Amy Carroll of Northeast Dental read several books and taught children the importance of good dental hygiene, including how to properly brush their teeth. Vivian Shanley won the door prize book. Other prize winners included Lexi James, who took home the Hippodontist game; Danelle “Pink” Gilbert, who won a doctor’s kit during Dr. Duzan’s visit; and Roland Shanley, who won a blanket from Crystal Murr’s guest appearance.
The following week, on Wednesday, June 25, guest reader Karen Hall visited the library to share stories with children. Since it was the first week after summer school ended, the library hosted a pizza party following story hour. Pink Gilbert won the door prize book.
Story hour continues each Wednesday at 10 a.m. throughout the summer. Wendy Atterberg is scheduled to read on July 2.
The Knox County Library encourages all children to sign up for the Summer Reading Program for a chance to win fun prizes and develop lifelong reading habits. As the library motto says, “Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader!”
