PAUL RAYMOND BOWMAN
Paul Raymond Bowman, 84, of Reno, Nevada, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. He was born April 9, 1942, in Corning, Iowa, the son of Elmer Bowman and Jean Bixler Bowman.
Paul proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
In Nevada, he became a respected figure in the northern Nevada motorcycle community. He owned the legendary Tap ‘n’ Tavern Saloon on East Fourth Street near the Reno-Sparks boundary, a longtime gathering place for motorcycle enthusiasts. For Paul, it wasn’t just a business. It was a place where stories were told, knuckles were bloodied, friendships were forged, and loyalty reigned supreme.
He was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, sought-after motorcycle mechanic, and Harley- Davidson connoisseur. His garage witnessed hundreds of motorcycle projects, late-night gatherings, fights, plenty of laughter, and countless family memories.
Paul lived his life unapologetically on his own terms. When Paul talked, people listened. He remained fiercely protective of his family and deeply devoted to his outlaw brothers and sisters throughout his lifetime. He was respected for his resilience, wisdom, and unwavering loyalty. He will be remembered for his kindness, steady resolve, and unflinching toughness.
Those fortunate enough to have heard any of his outlaw stories likely would not repeat them.
His family simply describes him as “the kindest man out there.”
One of the greatest blessings of Paul’s later years came in 2025 when he was reunited with his son, Paul Raymond Bowman Jr. After decades apart, what had never been forgotten was finally found again, giving father and son precious time together that neither took for granted.
Paul was first married to Donna Lee from 1964 to 1976. He later married Joanne Allee, who preceded him in death in 2008.
Surviving are his children, Kimberlee Ann; Robbie (LuAnn Henize) Bowman of Ohio; Richie (Wendy Hensley) Bowman of Tennessee; Rustie (Anna Pittenger) Bowman of Nevada; and Paul Raymond Bowman Jr. (Brenda Phariss) of Oregon. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joanne; two sisters, Janice and Phyllis; and one brother, Richard. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Paul was cremated. His family will gather at a later date to spread his ashes on his California property he loved so much.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Paul’s memory be honored in a way he would have appreciated: raise a glass or a bottle of Jack Daniel’s, say a prayer, take a ride, keep his family in your thoughts, and keep those you love close.
