Larry Moore, a native of Knox County has been presented the prestigious Elbert Cole Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to community volunteer work and to his professional work of nearly fifty years as chief news anchor and editor for KMBC-TV in Kansas City, Missouri.
The honor was presented at the KC Shepherds Center annual gala in The View at Briarcliff auditorium on Saturday, September 21. The late Dr. Cole with help from Larry founded the first Shepherds Center in Kansas City. Centers have now expanded to include 50 cities nationwide.
Larry, who holds a Masters Degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri and is a member of the Missouri Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame, began his journalism career writing sports for the Edina Sentinel while attending Edina High School. He is a 1960 graduate of Edina High School.
Larry and Ruth Moore make their home in rural Kansas City, Missouri. They have five adult children and seven grandchildren. Larry currently serves as anchor emeritus for KMBC-TV
