The search began at approximately 9:30 a.m., with responders working to locate the child. The call was dispatched at 6:49 p.m. to the residence at 50654 State Highway EE. Firefighters from the Baring, Rutledge and Edina volunteer fire departments responded. Upon arrival, crews found the structure heavily involved in fire. After assessing the situation alongside the property owner, it was determined the home was too far gone to be saved.
