CAFO Suit Against County Officials Dismissed

CAFO Suit Against County Officials Dismissed

The Knox County Commissioners, Evan Glasgow, Terry “Red” Callahan and Terry Marble, along with the Knox County Clerk, Marlene Spory, were notified last week that the law suit filed against them by local farmer, Shelton Zeiset, had been dismissed.
Zeiset filed a Petition for Declaration suing the county, the county commissioners and the county clerk for the right to build a concentrated animal feeding operation (CAFO) on his property north of Knox City and to recoup his court costs.
The intended CAFO was to finish 2,400 hogs.“The suit was dropped by the petitioning party,” said Jo Fortney who was representing the county in the matter.
According to Presiding Knox County Commissioner, Evan Glasgow, no deal had been made between the county and Zeiset leading up to the dismissal and the commissioners have no plans to allow Zeiset to build another CAFO on his property.
