MSHP Bomb Squad Removes Grenade from Apartment Above Sentinel Office
Edina, Missouri – Monday, July 22, 2019 – The Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad came to Edina from Jefferson City to take a closer look at a grenade found in the upstairs apartment of the late Anna Harris above The Edina Sentinel office on Monday afternoon.
“They took out the fuse and determined it had already been activated,” said Edina Police Chief Ryan Bishop. “There were no explosive substances inside of the grenade.”
The grenade was found by the public representative of Mrs. Harris while he was taking inventory of her possessions. The representative contacted the Edina Police Department as a precautionary measure.
Mrs. Harris’ late husband John was a WWII and Korean War veteran.
Two nearby businesses, The Edina Sentinel and The Clothes Closet, were not evacuated during the event.
