Rick Fischer, 66, of Memphis, MO, passed away, Thursday April 17, 2025, at the Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, MO.
Rick was a graduate of Wyaconda High School and Iowa Weselyn College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Rick was one of the original employees along with Dave Boden of KMEM Radio since it went on the air. He was employed there for 36 years until his health declined and he retired December 31st, 2017. While there, Rick wore many hats. He was Program Director, the voice of the morning shows including General Store and Coffee Break, color man along with Andy Middleton for The Clark County Indians, Master of Ceremonies at many fairs and parades, The KMEM Country Showdown and many more events.
He met many, many celebrities, including country music stars, and even shook hands with Bill Clinton when he stepped off the train. Rick and his wife Teresa were Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus every year for Christmas gatherings which they both enjoyed doing. Rick was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Mizzou Tigers fan.
Rick’s biggest love was his wife Teresa whom he married March 1st, 1987, and their family. She proceeded him in death June 18, 2019. He would sit and tell stories of their travels and outings. He cherished her memory up until his death and we’re sure he was thinking about joining her until his last breath.
Rick is survived by his twin brother, Ron (Deb) Fischer, stepdaughter Pam (Wes) Jensen of Bloomfield, two grandsons Marcus (Dakota) Jensen and their children of Moulton, Iowa, and Matthew Jensen (Cassie & Jada) of Bloomfield, Iowa, as well as a host of many, many friends. Rick never met a stranger, and no one ever forgot who he was.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Rick donated his body to science. Memorials can be made to the Memphis Community Players and sent to Box 256, Memphis, MO 62555.
