STEPHEN L. HUNOLT

In loving memory of Stephen L. Hunolt, age 77, who passed away March 16, 2026.

On June 5, 2026, Steve’s family gathered at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri, where Steve was laid to rest with military honors. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam during the war.

Steve was born July 5, 1948, to Richard E. Hunolt and Helen M. Hunolt, formerly of Edina, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard M. Hunolt; grandparents Thomas A. Hunolt and Nell Scearce Hunolt of Edina, and J. Albert (Bert) Moore and Gladys Chipman Moore of Baring, Missouri.

He is survived by his beloved wife Leonor; his children, Adrian Hunolt (Jaime), Robert Hunolt, Andrea Cain (Ron), Bianca Dang (Jimmy), and Fabio Zamora; his sister, Carol Muir (Nick); brother, Bruce Hunolt (Renee); and his mother-in-law, Melvyn Guzman.

He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren (a grandchild on the way), one great grandchild, many loving nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Steve attended St. Joseph Catholic grade school in Edina, Missouri, and was a graduate of Knox County High School class of 1966. Steve was employed as Regional Director for Majestic Insurance Company, based in San Diego, California. For thirty years, he enjoyed living on the west coast in San Diego, San Francisco and Portland, Oregon.

Steve lived life to the fullest and never knew a stranger. He loved his family and friends beyond measure and, as he used to say, “all the future friends I just haven’t met yet”. His love for life and all its possibilities was what drove his boundless enthusiasm. He could hold forth on any topic with great conviction and infectious humor. His quick wit was legendary.

His greatest joy in life was spending time with his cherished wife and family. He also enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends, telling hilarious (and sometimes believable) stories, and meeting up once a year in the northwest wilderness with his hunting buddies.

Steve’s gentle spirit and joie de vivre live on in those whose lives he touched.
