The Cougars got off to a good start in both halves of their January 23, 2020 Tony Lenzini Tournament boys consolation semifinal with Mark Twain. Drew Mallett fired in 20 points to lead Highland to a 69-66 win over the Tigers.
Dalton Klocke tossed in a pair of three balls, leading the Cougars to a 21-13 first quarter lead. Mark Twain came back with a 23 point second period for a 41-39 halftime lead.
The Cougars put forth a 20-11 third quarter run for a 59-52 edge heading into the fourth quarter. Each side made six fourth quarter free throws. Highland was able to hold on for the 69-66 win.
Dalton Klocke finished with nine points. Robert Goehl was in double figures with 11 points. Dylan Schroeder scored six Highland points.
Jace Barton scored a game high 26 Mark Twain points. Preston Eckler put in 17 Tiger points. Caleb Peters put in 11 Mark Twain points. The seventh seeded Cougars took on fourth seed Clark County in the boys consolation championship game.
